Bidart Beaches
Would you like to take advantage of your stay at the Sea Green Erreka**** campsite to visit the main attractions of Bidart?
- Monitored during the high season and easily accessible, Centre Beach is very popular with families. It is sheltered by cliffs and stretches for several hundred meters. This beautiful fine sand beach attracts surfers and bodyboarders.
- To the south is Uhabia Beach, also monitored during the summer. While the beauty of the natural landscapes attracts vacationers, the scenery is enhanced by the nearby Basque houses. This beach is also notable for its accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
- Erretegia Beach welcomes vacationers in a lush, peaceful setting, away from the town center. Its ultra-fine pebbles resemble sand. Monitored in summer, this beach serves as the starting point for a hike along the iconic coastal trail – a 54 km route leading to San Sebastián, a seaside resort near the Spanish border.
- Vacationers are also drawn to the beaches of Pavillon Royal and Parlementia.
The Chapel of La Madeleine
Brightened by a lovely esplanade, the Chapel of La Madeleine is one of the most beautiful religious monuments on the Basque coast. Its location above the Atlantic Ocean allows visitors to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. This exceptional setting, along with the chapel’s dedication to Saint Mary Magdalene, made it one of the key stops for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago.
Church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption
The church is oriented towards the east, a tradition dating back to ancient times. The building dates from the 16th century. In the cemetery surrounding it, visitors can see old Basque graves modestly adorned with a few disc-shaped stones. The Church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption is also known for its oriental-style baptismal font, its handcrafted wooden crucifix, and its solid oak statue of Saint James.
The War Memorial
Bidart is also an ideal destination for memorial tourism. The War Memorial is located near the old post office. Created in 1924 based on the designs of Bayonne architects, the monument features two soldiers on its sides, one wearing a helmet and the other a traditional beret.
Toki-Toki
Named Toki-Toki, the new library and media center in Bidart is a cultural space for both adults and children that fosters social connections between generations. A meeting place, much like literary cafés, where people can exchange ideas and get to know one another through the cultural activities organized by the center. The media center hosts different temporary exhibitions every week, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, and collections like street art, all with free access.
Pili Taffernaberry Gallery
